Former Test cricketer Tanveer Ahmed said that agenda against Babar Azam will continue until he is removed from Pakistan team's captaincy.
Babar has remained under lot of pressure due to his captaincy. Although under his captaincy Pakistan played final of T20 Asia Cup and T20 World Cup last year, people criticise him for his captaincy mindset. Pakistan lost home Test series against Australia, England and New Zealand last year which raised many questions on Babar's captaincy.
Following all the criticism, Tanveer said results doesn't matter, Babar will keep on facing pressure due to a certain agenda against him.
"Pakistan win or lose, Babar will keep on facing pressure. Until he is removed from captaincy, agenda against him will continue," he said.
The cricketer-turned-analyst said Pakistan can't focus on ICC World Cup this year until the captaincy debate is over.
"How can we focus on World Cup when everyone is putting pressure on Babar and also chairman making such statements? Even if Babar wins series against New Zealand, they will run behind him," he took a dig at critics.
In his latest interview to local cricket website, Sethi has once again clarified that Babar is a wonderful player, his captaincy is something the team management will decide in the future.
"For now, we have retained Babar as a captain because he is our main player. His captaincy is often discussed on media, we have nothing to do with it," he said.
"Yes, I listened to a couple of thoughts on media. Some said there should be two different captains and some said different captain in each format. Selection committee also discussed this thing but it is premature to talk about this,
"I have also consulted Mickey on this, he also said that let Babar continue. For New Zealand series, he is our captain and we should back him. Later on, Mickey and selection committee will decide on captaincy," he explained his version on the matter.
